In this interview, we hear from Dr. Maryam Ghorbani, a distinguished researcher and recipient of an IBRO Return Home Fellowship, now called IBRO Rising Stars Awards. After completing her PhD in Iran and conducting postdoctoral research in the US, Dr. Ghorbani returned to Iran to establish her own sleep laboratory. She discusses her research on sleep rhythms and memory consolidation, the challenges of returning to academia in her home country, and how the IBRO fellowship played a pivotal role in overcoming these obstacles.
